American footballs live broadcasts will continue on Ruutu service until 2025
Live broadcasts of the top American football leagues will be available on Ruutu until the 2025 season. The American Football Association of Finland and Nelonen Media have utilized the extension option included in their previous cooperation agreement, which covers the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
Nelonen Media will retain the domestic broadcasting rights for the Maple League, Women’s Maple League, and Men’s Division I until the end of the 2025 season. The Ruutu streaming service will broadcast all the main American football league games as live broadcasts, and in addition, the opening games of each Maple League round will be available to watch for free on Sanoma’s ISTV.
SAJL’s Roope Noronen is pleased that the direct broadcasts of American football will continue on Nelonen Media’s channels:
-The popularity of American football among Finnish sports audiences has been strongly growing. Our newly signed agreement guarantees the summer’s toughest contact sport as live broadcasts on Ruutu for the next three seasons.

In the 2022 season, Ruutu offered a total of 105 American football matches as live broadcasts for Finnish sports fans. The most watched American football match on Ruutu in 2022 was the Finland-USA women’s World Cup game at the beginning of August.
