A new American Football App will be released during the Maple Bowl week. The free app gathers all American football league matches, results, standings, statistics, teams, and players in one place.

The app will be released on September 11th and can be downloaded from app stores. No user account is required.

The American Football App has been developed in collaboration with the Porin software company Appis. The app is based on the SportApp.io platform developed by Appis, which helps sports federations and clubs manage the sports ecosystem.

Game events included in real-time

During an ongoing match, you can follow the situation and game clock, as well as the ball’s location and direction of attack, downs, necessary yards, and team timeouts. Performances are updated in the app as the statistician records them in the sport’s results service.

All match and statistical data presented in the app comes directly from the American Football results service.

Leagues, teams, and players in one place

The American Football App covers all leagues from the Maple League to divisions and junior leagues.

The leagues include standings, comparisons of home and away games, playoff brackets, and statistical leaders. On team pages, you can view the season’s matches, standings, rosters, team statistics, and the form guide for the last five matches.

Player pages compile season statistics, match-specific performances, and the player’s career across different leagues. Statistics have also been expanded to include position-specific data, such as:

• success rates of kickers
• passer ratings and yards per attempt for quarterbacks
• yards per reception for receivers
• punters’ In20 and touchback statistics

The user chooses what to follow

During the app’s setup, you can select your favorite leagues, teams, and players. Individual matches can also be marked to follow, and the user decides what notifications they want to receive.

Additionally, the app allows you to:

• search for clubs, teams, players, and leagues
• vote for the winner of upcoming matches
• read news and browse events
• identify ticketed matches and proceed to purchase tickets from Lippu.fi

The release serves as a starting gun for the 2027 season

The American Football App will be released at the end of the season so that the app can be thoroughly tested before the start of the 2027 season. During the autumn and winter, user feedback will be collected, and the app will be developed based on that feedback.

Feedback and development suggestions can be sent directly in the app’s Game Plan section. Messages go directly to the app’s creators.

The chairman of SAJL, Roope Noronen, is pleased that the long-awaited service is finally being launched:

We want to provide fans with a better way to follow the sport and offer clubs and participants new opportunities to engage with the community. The app’s launch is an important milestone in the development of Finnish American football and at the same time a starting point for the ongoing development of the service.”

Follow the Maple Bowl from the App

The Maple Bowl, played on Saturday, September 12, 2026, will be the first test for the new app. Match events and statistics can be followed through the app both on-site at Bolt Arena and in home viewing locations around the world.
