Team Finland announces women’s roster for 2024 IFAF Flag Football World Championships

The coaching staff of the Finnish Women’s Flag Football National Team has selected a roster of 12 players with the goal of achieving success at the home World Championships to be held in Lahti from August 27-30, 2024.

The Finnish Women’s Flag Football National Team for the home World Championships has now been selected. Head Coach Lars Abrahamsen and Defensive Coordinator Iiro Laatio named 12 + 4 players, from whom success is expected in August.

Here’s how Abrahamsen commented on the selection process:

-First, it hasn’t been an easy selection for Iiro and I because of the high level in our group of players and what they have shown at the camps, and we’ve had to leave some great players out of the final team, which is of course always though, but especially this year with the WC being at home in Finland.

-It has been a good process since November to select the team and we’ve seen great development from each camp. We’re sure that we have put together a really strong team that can compete at a high level on home soil. I think we have a good mix of experienced players and some young and talented ones, and we have improved in some of the areas that we wanted to improve after the EC last year.

-We will continue our preparation in the next months, and then we can hopefully avoid any last-minute injuries like last year, so the team can be at full strength when competing at the WC.

-And then we’re really looking forward seeing who we end up with in the group stage, so we can begin the preparation for the first couple of games.
