The Finnish Men’s Maple League in American football has released the schedule for the 2024 season. The series will kick off next spring on Thursday, May 16, 2024. The Finnish championship will be decided in the Maple Bowl XLV final on Saturday, September 7, played at Helsinki’s Bolt Arena.

The teams participating in the 2024 Maple League season are Seinäjoki Crocodiles, Porvoon Butchers, Helsinki Roosters, Wasa Royals, Kuopio Steelers, Lohja Crusaders, and Helsinki Wolverines. The teams will face each other twice, and the top four teams in the regular season will continue their games in the playoffs held in late August and early September. The climax of the 45th season of the Maple League will take place at Bolt Arena in Helsinki, as the Maple Bowl event returns to the capital after a five-year provincial tour.

Official game days for regular-season matches are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. As usual, all Maple League games will be broadcast live on Ruutu.

Even this time, scheduling the league program within a pre-selected time frame was not easy. This is how Roope Noronen, the chairman of the American Football Association of Finland commented preparin of the schedule:

-The schedule for the 2024 season had to be constructed under somewhat challenging circumstances due to the field situations in the cities. With good cooperation from the teams, we managed to create a match schedule where problems have been taken into account as well as possible. In some situations, the solution is certainly not optimal, and the limited number of suitable fields for the sport and the audience may still bring about individual changes to the program.
