The sale of tickets for the IFAF Flag Football World Championships has now opened. The event, taking place at the end of August, is under the patronage of the President of the Republic, Alexander Stubb.

The World Championship tournament in flag football, to be played at the Pajulahti Sports Center and Lahti Stadium, will bring nearly a thousand athletes and officials from around 30 countries to determine the World Championships titles for both women’s and men’s divisions in the familiar winter sports scenery of Lahti Stadium in August.

The group stage matches of the four-day tournament will be played on the fields of the Pajulahti Sports Center, and the World Championship medal matches as well as the placement matches for Finland’s women’s and men’s teams – if the Finns do not reach the medal games – will be played on Friday, August 30th at Lahti Stadium. The organizing committee expects the event to attract a large number of international guests and fans of the sport, particularly from Asia and  North America.

Ticket sales for the medal matches at Lahti Stadium have now opened on the Lippu.fi service. The group stage matches played on the fields of the Pajulahti Sports Center are open to the public.

Distinguished patron brings strong support to the event organization

The organizing committee of the World Championships is also pleased to announce that the President of the Republic, Alexander Stubb, has agreed to be the event’s patron. The chairman of the organizing committee, Risto Luostarinen, is pleased with the extra energy the distinguished patron brings to the organization of the event.

– We are honored to have the President of the Republic, known as a friend of sports, as the official patron of the event. We have just under three months to get the event’s organization to the excellent level expected in Finland, and this brings strong moral support to our entire organization.

The flag football World Championships can be considered one of the most equal World Championships in team sports. In flag football, men and women compete for World Championship titles in the same tournament under the same rules, on the same fields, simultaneously.
